Sunflower meal

Sunflower meal is a by-product in the production of vegetable oils, obtained after pressing and extracting the seeds of oilseeds. Pressing refers to the process of extruding oil from oil seeds. The extraction process consists in separating the residual oil content from the seeds after pressing with organic solvents. At the same time, if in the cake that is obtained after pressing, the residual oil contains up to 10%, then in the meal this percentage falls to 1.5-2%.
Sunflower meal is indispensable as a high-protein supplement for the production of mixed fodders for cattle, pigs, poultry, as it contains natural proteins, fiber, vitamins E and B, potassium, phosphorus and other minerals. Sunflower meal is a valuable food, which contains 38-40% of crude protein, a rich set of amino acids, in particular a high content of methionine, which favorably influences the growth and development of young animals. In comparison with the oilcake in the meal, there is more crude protein, but less fat — no more than 1.5%. The content of husk is no more than 16% (cakes are produced and without husks). The vitamin B content in sunflower meal is significantly higher than in soy. Sunflower seed meal is rich in niacin, riboflavin, choline, biotin, pantothenic acid and pyridoxine. In addition, sunflower meal is an excellent source of vitamin E.
